About Outpatient
Services
Clove Lakes Rehabilitation and Outpatient Services offers a
broad range of comprehensive rehabilitation programs and physical medicine
services. New York Metropolitan Area residents may benefit from taking
advantage of our many specialized outpatient programs, all performed by
licensed and highly trained therapists, under the supervision of a physiatrist,
who works in conjunction with a patient's own physician.
As one of the area's largest and most comprehensive rehabilitation providers,
Clove Lakes has accomplished many firsts. The latest is
the Medicare certification of its Outpatient Services as a Comprehensive
Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility (CORF).
As a CORF, Clove Lakes now offers - with one easy physician referral -
the services of licensed therapists, physicians, social workers and nurses.
For injured workers, athletes and those with orthopedic or other medical
conditions, Outpatient Services offers convenience and a full range of
services six days a week. We are also providing services to NYC Board of
Education students ages 5 - 21.
Rehabilitation
Services
Depending on the individual needs, Rehabilitation Services provided
may include: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Therapy,
Nursing Services, Social Work, Case Management, Pain Management, and Alternative
Therapies.
Hydrotherapy
Services
Hydrotherapy, a specialty program available through Inpatient and
Outpatient Services, makes rehabilitation from injuries, pain and weakness
easier and more comfortable. Unique to a rehab setting, Clove
Lakes' AquaCiser System is especially beneficial for individuals
with chronic musculoskeletal or orthopedic conditions.
Comprised of an exercise chamber, a water reservoir and control console,
patient access to the AquaCiser is exceptionally easy. Water depth
can be adjusted and the therapeutic effects of warm water are enhanced
by dual-function hydrotherapy jets. Because the ideal water temperature
varies with the diagnosis, the AquaCiser provides more versatility than
a large therapy pool.
Words that physicians use to describe Hydrotherapy are EARLY, EFFECTIVE
OUTCOMES. Early intervention means effective gains in strength,
endurance and range of motion. Buoyancy provides a practical and
effective means of reducing the effect of gravity. Patients who would
otherwise be limited by pain, weakness or weight-bearing restrictions can
now begin to develop strength much earlier in the rehabilitative process.
With the only AquaCiser available on Staten Island, Clove Lakes
has again offered its customers a technological innovation that revolutionizes
the practice of rehabilitation therapy.

NYC Board

We proudly announce that we are an Independent Provider of Related Services
(Physical and Occupational Therapy) for the NYC Board of Education.
Students age 5 - 21 are eligible to receive therapy upon completion
of an IEP (Individualized Education Program). All that's needed to
begin the process is a RSA (Related Service Authorization) letter and a copy
of the child's IEP. Please call 718-289-7878 for more information.
The Clove
Lakes Difference
What is the Clove Lakes difference? It's the relationship-focused
care that sets Clove Lakes apart. No matter which part of
the body our therapists and physicians work to restore, we believe that
rehabilitation is a collaborative effort. A qualified and compassionate
staff, the latest in treatment technology and the support of the family
and friends are among the factors that contribute to a successful recovery.
Even as a patient works with a therapist or other staff member, coordinating
the treatment program, we specifically encourage the family to be part of
the team.
A State-Of-The-Art
Rehab Gymnasium
The Outpatient Center incorporates the best of many innovations available
for rehabilitation. Renovations throughout the Gymnasium therefore
focus on the visual, as well as the functional. The Center introduces
its patients to a modern workout-setting where the individual can master
specific physical skills that lead to a productive life. The entrance
is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and large doorways leading to a spacious
central gym area. Private therapy stations allow therapists to work
with individuals who have various levels of impairment.
The Outpatient Gymnasium covers more than 2,000 square feet with a private
area for hydrotherapy services. The Gym is adjacent to the 4,000
foot Inpatient Gymnasium which allows easy access to a model kitchen, bedroom
and bathroom which provides hands-on training for those who need assistance
in ambulation, dressing, eating and transfers.
